Executive Team


Mr. Peter Y. L. Eng is a founding shareholder of the Allied Holdings Group which has been engaged in the business of real estate investment and development in Western Canada since 1968 and in the hospitality business since 1986. He has been a director of Allied Holdings Ltd. since 1973, was its President and Chief Executive Officer from 1973 to 1979, the Chairman of its Board from 1979 to 1991, and has been its Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Officer since 1991. Mr. Eng has also been involved with numerous real estate projects in Asia and the United States. Mr. Eng holds an M.A. degree from the University of Hong Kong, an M.B.A. degree from Pepperdine University and an honorary Doctorate of Laws from Simon Fraser University.  He is also a recently retired director of HSBC Bank Canada and HSBC North America, and a past member of the board of YVR Airport Authority, Simon Fraser University, and the University of British Columbia, among other organizations in Canada and abroad.


Mr. Michael F. Chan, was appointed President and Director of AHPI in 2003, and prior to that time he held the position of Vice President, Corporate Development and Corporate Secretary. Since 1993, he has held various executive positions within the Allied Holdings Group and has been involved in hotel and real estate development, mergers and acquisitions, and financial analysis. He is also a Director of Allied Holdings Ltd. He was formerly a public representative on the Board of Directors of the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia and a member of the Board of Advisors of the Granville Island Trust. Mr. Chan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia (CPA, CA).

Mr. Dennis Ng is the President and Chief Executive Officer of King George Financial Corporation.  Mr. Ng is a graduate of the University of British Columbia.  He has worked in the area of Construction Information Technology as well as the real estate industry in Singapore and Canada over the last 16 years.  Mr. Ng serves as a director of CT Management Corporation and the Downtown Vancouver Association.


Mr. Patrick Kong has more than thirty years of management experience in the hospitality industry and has held senior executive positions with several hotel groups prior to founding his own management consulting company in 1994. He has since managed such hotels as the Radisson President Hotel & Suites, Sheraton Four Points Hotel - Niagara Falls, Ramada Plaza/Park Plaza - Vancouver Airport.  Mr. Kong earned his Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1980 and received his Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation in 1996. He also completed Cornell University's Professional Development Program in Hotel Planning & Design and Food Service Facilities: Development & Design.  Mr. Kong was also a Director and Past President of Tourism Richmond.


Mr. Syed Abu Bakar is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (England) and a member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants. He is a director of King George Financial Corporation, a reporting issuer in B.C., and an independent director of and Chairman of the audit committee of Padiberas Nasional Berhad, a reporting issuer in Malaysia.  Recently he was appointed as an independent director of Sime Darby Motors Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of a reporting issuer in Malaysia.  In addition, he sits on the board of several private companies in Malaysia.


Francis A. Wong is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Genesis Hotel Development LLC, a hotel consulting company.  Mr. Wong has extensive knowledge in the hotel industry, and in partnership with others, developed and owned several hotels in Hawaii.  Mr. Wong has had a distinguished political career, including being a member of the staff of U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy and is a retired Hawaiian State Senator.  Mr. Wong is a graduate of Georgetown College and Georgetown University Law Centre and is also a named partner in his Hawaiian law firm of Rice Lee & Wong.


T. Lloyd Callahan is the founding shareholder and President of Callahan Construction Company Ltd. (CCCL), incorporated in 1966. Through CCCL and other affiliated companies Lloyd has developed many commercial, industrial and multi-family projects in the B.C. Interior. Lloyd has served on several national and regional boards in B.C. and Canada, and is currently a Director of Defence Construction Canada in Ottawa, Ontario.
